As California shifts into hemp production, the California Hemp Association will present California Hemp Business Workshop, a one-day workshop on industrial hemp in the state.
The day-long workshop provides a unique opportunity to network with hemp business peers, startups and members of the Association, February 20 at Oaksterdam University in Oakland.

Program focuses on practical aspects

Participants will learn the latest information about hemp business opportunities in California, get presentations from state hemp business leaders and receive a workbook on California hemp market information and state regulations.

Tickets are available online. Oaksterdam University & Hemp Museum is located at 1734 Telegraph, Oakland CA 94612

The morning session launches at 10 and runs until noon, with a focus on hemp farming and how to get seed into the California soil. Presenters include Wayne Richman, Executive Director, California Hemp Association,
Christopher Boucher, Farmer, Farmtiva and Alex Mikandawire Agronomist, California Crop Improvement Association CCIA.
The afternoon session convenes from 2 – 4:30 PM and is followed by the California Hemp Business VIP Reception, from 5 – 6 PM. Afternoon presenters include Brian Webster, Business Community Organizer & Consultant, CA-Hemp, Patrick Goggin, Attorney At Law, Hoban Law and Chris Conrad, author / consultant and expert on industrial hemp.

Prop. 64 opened the door to hemp agriculture

Federal law has allowed industrial hemp farming since the end of 2014, however the legislation passed in California’s state legislature was signed into law with a poison pill: It required DEA licenses which are routinely denied. The voter initiative, Proposition 64, removed that condition to move the licensing process forward.
The February 20, 2018 program in Oaksterdam follows up on those changes and includes education and market presentations on:
  • Growing Hemp in California
  • Buying and Selling Hemp in California
  • 2018 California Business Opportunities
It also provides targeted market and regulatory information for:
  • Farmers & Industrial Agriculture Growers
  • Processors & Service Providers
  • Manufacturers & Retailers
