There's a new treatment in town and just the name of it is making people feel uncomfortable but it is benefitting children across the UK with a number of ailments.

Cannabis oil, known as cannabidiol, is available across the UK, in pharmacy shops and these oils are being used to ease a whole host of aches and pains.

From joints to multiple sclerosis and depression to symptoms of cancer, there are multiple uses for this oil and it is proving invaluable to those that have embraced its healing properties.

What is cannabis oil?

Cannabis oil is extracted from the fibre of a cannabis plant, specifically from the flowers and leaves of hemp. It is done by steam distillation and the oil is available to buy across the country and is not illegal.

There is a trace of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the component that make cannabis users feel high.

There's no need to worry with cannabis oil though, as there is less than 0.05% THC in the product.

What is still present in cannabis oil is a distinct taste, and this is a medication that is taken orally.

Why are kids taking cannabis oil?

It is becoming an increasingly popular healer in the battle against stress and anxiety, as well as helping youngsters get to sleep.

There are a number of skincare benefits too, as it protects against eczema and psoriasis, if rubbed into the skin.

It is also proving popular with adults, as it is thought that cannabis oil can reduce the signs of aging.

Some evidence has been provided to suggest that the side-effects of cancer can be eased with medical marijuana but health professionals have warned that this hasn't been proven with cannabis oil and shouldn't be used as a replacement to prescribed treatment

Where can I buy cannabis oil?

The biggest store on the high street that is stocking cannabis oil is Holland and Barrett. They have started to stocking Dutch brand Jacob Hooy's CBD (cannabidiol) oil, which costs £9.49 for a 10ml bottle containing approx 240 drops.
