NORTH DAKOTA -
North Dakota Ag Commissioner Goehring has chosen three operations to help determine whether industrial hemp can be successfully grown.
Black Dirt Inc. in LaMoure County, David Lommen in Grand Forks County and Clarence Laub in Grant County were among 11 successful applicants for the research program.
A committee determined they have the top proposals.
Hemp produces fiber and oil and can be used in everything from clothing to food.
Some North Dakota farmers hope it can become a profitable part of their operations.
