A sheep left the shearing trailer after being sheared for the Kentucky Cloth Project at the Final Frontier Farm, 290 Steele Ford Rd., near Paris, Ky., Wednesday March 11, 2015.

The Kentucky Cloth Project, a cooperative effort between local producers, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and a California non-profit called Fibershed, will blend hemp with wool and alpaca fiber from Kentucky farmers.

The project will take about 100 pounds of wool sheared Wednesday from Kathy Meyer's sheep at Final Frontier Farm in Bourbon County and send the cleaned wool along with suri alpaca fiber from Alvina Maynard's River Hill Farm in Richmond and hemp fiber from Mike Lewis's Healing Ground Farm in Mt. Vernon to Gaston College in North Carolina where it will be blended to maximize the best properties of all.
