A new consumer show aimed at vegan and vegetarians is set to launch at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in December 2015.
The organiser of Vegfest Scotland aims to build on the success of the Vegfest brand in Scotland by welcoming ethical small businesses and charities from across the region to come and exhibit in front of an anticipated 10,000 visitors.
More than 100 vegan and vegetarian businesses, charities, producers, shops and organisations will showcase their products and services on 5-6 December.
“We are thrilled to be working at such a high-profile and prestigious venue as the SECC, and look forward to many years of successful events,” said a spokesperson from the organiser. “We are in a growth market, and post-recession its good news all round for anyone trying to build an ethical, sustainable and above all vegan business or organisation. About time, too.”
Features of the inaugural Vegfest Scotland include a Health Summit, an Activists Summit, talks on nutrition, health, lifestyle and campaigns, on top of in-house Levy Restaurant serving an all-vegan menu plus 12 other specialist caterers.
A Hemp Expo focusing on the industrial and medicinal benefits of hemp will also be at the show alongside vegan information display areas, vegan cookery demos, kids cookery classes, family entertainment, live music, and comedy.
“Vegfest Scotland is a unique opportunity to touch base with ethically minded people and we expect a big take up on stall space,” added the organiser.
The two-day vegan food fest is also part of a new Glasgow-based venture The Only Way is Ethics comprising an eight day festival exploring, promoting and celebrating ethical choices affecting all aspects of living.
