Strong & Kind bars a no go for DoD employees

Strong and Kind bars

If you work for the Department of Defense you may want to rethink your afternoon snack today. “Strong & Kind" bars contain hemp seeds in their ingredients and may cause you to fail a drug test. The offending ingredient is tetrahydrocannabinol, which is found in marijuana.

The Army currently prohibits the consumption of hemp seeds or any derivative of hemp and its use is illegal according to US Drug Enforcement Agency.
Hemp seeds made their way into the Kind bars because of a 2004 ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. According to an Army report the court's decision protects the sale of foods that naturally contain THC at levels lower than the USDA guideline of 1 percent.
You can find more information about the company at www.kindsnacks.com.

Blogger's Note:
More gross ignorance from the DOD. Hemp seeds do not contain more than trace amounts of THC and eating hemp foods (seeds, oil, protein powder, etc.) will not cause anyone to fail a drug test. Rather than spend five minutes researching one of the healthiest plants on earth and encourage all employees and soldiers to consume healthy hemp on a daily basis, they simply ban the substance.

This type of institutional ignorance is what we (Americans) get for our US$ 600 billion + tax dollars per year, spent very unwisely on the American war machine.
