The Hampton County sheriff’s office confiscated 128 marijuana plants in an operation they initiated with the state drug eradication team Tuesday afternoon in Hampton county. Pictured above is Hampton County Sheriff T.C. Smalls, standing beside some of the confiscated marijuana plants.
The plants were located and confiscated from a field near Brunson. The estimated value of the entire amount which was confiscated would be around $256,000, according to a report from the sheriff’s office, if the hapless flora were actually marijuana. However, the feral cannabis plants contain less than a third of a percent of THC and would fetch around fifty dollars.
The plants were destroyed immediately following the confiscation. No arrests were made.
A previous eradication operation within the county netted 16 plants in Hampton County near Nixville with an estimated value of $32,000. No arrests were made and the plants were destroyed immediately following the confiscation.
“This is yet another step towards eradication of illegal drugs in Hampton County,” Hampton County Sheriff T.C. Smalls said. “We will not tolerate illegal drugs in the county and we will find them.”
