Industrial Hemp in the North Country

New York State is cultivating the industrial hemp market and supporting new opportunities to grow this multi-million dollar crop, which is used in the manufacture of a number of unique and useful products—from clothing and food to building materials and pharmaceuticals.
To encourage the growth of New York’s research program and to quickly gain critical research data, New York has undertaken a major research project that significantly increases in the State’s production.
The application period for cultivating industrial hemp is now open through November 22, 2017, and industrial hemp Processor registrations will be accepted on a rolling basis. If you have been contemplating the cultivating, processing, and/or manufacturing of industrial hemp products, this is a great opportunity to learn more about New York State’s industrial hemp program.
Speaker: Marc Privitera, CEO of PreProcess, Inc.
Marc is the co-founder of PreProcess, Inc. a company developing the industrial hemp market and will install production, processing and manufacturing capacity in northern New York. This innovative company has been involved with various industrial hemp efforts as the crop has become legal to grow and process throughout the United States.
Marc is part of a family that has farmed in Jefferson County, New York for generations. The common thread of all who are given the gift of being a part of the north is the love for the land, its people, and the desire to pass this love of the North Country to future generations.
Speaker: Tim Sweeney, NY State Agriculture Department Policy Analyst
Tim will deliver a brief overview of current NYS policy concerning the growing and processing of industrial hemp in New York State.
