Want to grow hemp? Tennessee now accepting applications from farmers
Industrial hemp cultivation in France

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications from farmers and producers interested in growing industrial hemp.
Yes, hemp is the same plant species as marijuana. However, industrial hemp has significantly lower tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content — the ingredient in marijuana that produces the "high."
It also can be used to produce a variety of products, including fabric, textiles, fibers and food.
Section 7606 of the Agricultural Act of 2014, also known as the Farm Bill, allows the growing of hemp only as part of a research or pilot project. This includes programs authorized by the state and "institutions of higher education."
