Coconut, flax, cashew, and hemp milk are new options consumers are excited about in 2017.
A recent feature in Forbes highlighted the foods people will be consuming more frequently in 2017.
Writer Geoff Williams pointed out that the growth of the plant-based milk market means consumers will be looking for new dairy alternatives, particularly hemp milk. Williams spoke with Denver, CO-based grocer Jonathan Clinthorne to gain more perspective on the trends in dairy-free milk.
In addition to hemp milk, Clinthorne lists coconut-, flax- and cashew-based milks as options his customers are interested in. “While hemp milk is made from what you think it is,” Williams concludes, “it is safe to, say, ‘drink hemp milk and drive.’”
The plant-based milk market—led by the popularity of almond milk—is expected to grow to $35 billion in 2024.
