The first flag created in the Homegrown American Flag Project was on display Monday at the Tenth Post Handwovens. The flag is handwoven and threaded with raw hemp.
The project is a vision of a a hemp farmer and veteran Mike Lewis and his company, Freedom Seed & Feed.
The American flag was chosen to embody the vision of bringing back hemp to Kentucky farmers.
An experienced team in Germantown hand-spun the raw hemp into yarn on the flag. The flag will head to Chicago on Tuesday for a national debut at Farm Aid's 30th Anniversary Concert.
