Three farmers approved to operate pilot plots of hemp in Christian County are being held up during “prime planting season” by a federal and state battle over the release of hemp seed from Italy.
According
to Katie Moyer, a Hopkinsville resident and member of the Kentucky
Industrial Hemp Commission, 250 pounds of hemp seeds were flown into
Chicago last week where they cleared U.S. Customs and Border Protection,
but the seeds still have not made their way to the local farmers.
