EUGENE, Ore. -- It's Eugene's annual celebration of the cannibis plant.
On Friday at 4:20 p.m. the Emerald Empire HempFest kicked off in Maurie Jacobs Park.
The event features artists and hemp-products vendors.
Organizers say even though the festival celebrates the cannibas plant, no illegal activies will be tolerated.
"We think it is a plant that is misunderstood and should be legalized for all purposes: industrial, medical, as well as recreational. The side effects of marijuana is euphoria, and that's not a bad side effect," said Dan Koozer, event organizer.
HempFest runs through Sunday.
