Hemp seed may soon be legalised for human consumption, thanks to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ).
A recent report by FSANZ recommends that approval be given for hemp seeds, which has the potential to build a billion dollar industry in Tasmania.
President of the Industrial Hemp Association Tasmania Tim Schmidt, speaks to Brian Carlton about the possibility of hemp seeds being legalised, and what this could mean for the Tasmanian economy.
“We're really hoping that it'll just seamlessly come through, and then we can focus on developing a good, sustainable, viable industry in the state,” Mr Schmidt says.
