The Barron County Economic Development Corporation and University of Wisconsin-Extension are offering an informational meeting on growing industrial hemp in the state. The program takes place December 12 at the Barron County Government Center in Barron, starting at 1:00 p.m.
John Strohfus of Minnesota Hemp Farms will be the guest speaker. His operation was the first approved industrial hemp farm in their state and is currently the largest producer of hemp products in Minnesota. His experience in growing and processing hemp will provide attendees with a source of practical knowledge about industrial hemp production.
Governor Scott Walker recently signed a bill that allows industrial hemp to be grown in Wisconsin.
